Discord launches verified servers

Discord has implemented a new feature that will help players identify official servers.

The new verified servers program will provide developers with servers that they have full control over. These can be used to make announcements, and generally interact with the community the same way current community-run servers do.

The difference, of course, is that this will be considered part of the official channels. Verified servers will have a verified badge, vanity URL, and a customisable splash screen.

There’s already over 100 servers from developers and publishers of many games including Minecraft, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, Clash Royale, and others. Any developer can apply to be verified from here.

It’s important to point out that these will be new servers, given only to official developers. Community servers various developers used previously, such as the big PUBG one, will not get verified. Beyond that, verified servers themselves come with a few limitations.

For instance, you’ll need to turn on the explicit content filter at all times, and have moderators available to manage the various channels. Because these servers are likely going to be popular, notifications will only pop-up in mentions.
